THE CASE OF THE LA COSA NOSTRA EXTORTION
While assigned to the St. Louis Strike Force of the Organized Crime and Racketeering Section of the United States Department of Justice, Mr. Cashill and his colleague Tom Vockrodt tried and convicted Dominic “Beaver” Biondo, “Willie” Orlando, and Joseph “Joe Boy” Scalise of extorting “protection” money from elderly Joseph Wozniak of Wentzville, MO. by threats of violence, a classic La Cosa Nostra (LCN) tactic. This case was tried in the Court of United States District Judge William Webster, who later served as Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Director of Central Intelligence (CIA).
